Frequently asked questions

At Ora Protections, menstrual pants are made up of 4 layers: 3 textile layers and a waterproof layer. This waterproof layer prevents blood from passing through the panties and staining your clothes. They can absorb up to 40 mL, for 12 hours of protection, depending on your flow. Air circulates through the 4 layers to let the vulva breathe. Humidity is controlled, preventing unpleasant odors and the spread of harmful bacteria.

Our warehouse is located in Lavaltrie, and every product is carefully inspected before delivery. Packages leave our warehouse and are delivered directly to your door.

The knickers are made in China. Our manufacturer is audited annually by the SGS Group, a global pioneer in inspecting, verifying and certifying companies to meet stringent environmental and ethical standards. This is the auditing company for Best Buy, Haier, Canon, Home Depot and others.

Producing in Quebec is an option we constantly consider in our business vision. For the time being, after constant research, it’s clear that there’s still a lack of manpower, expertise and large-scale production on the market.

As a result, production in Quebec would not be sufficient to meet demand, and consumers would not have easy access to this type of protection (they retail at around $60 for panties, for good reason!). In fact, we’re very proud of the few companies that make their products here, in order to offer consumers this choice.

As Ora Protections’ main mission is to facilitate access to menstrual panties for as many women as possible, we have chosen to produce overseas. And to do so consciously, thoughtfully and responsibly.

Our suppliers are carefully selected for product quality, working conditions and ethics. Our products are tested and you can be sure of receiving a quality product that works, as well as personalized assistance and support at all times.

Absolutely. They have been designed to replace disposable sanitary products.

It is essential to know your flow in order to determine your ideal holding time. We advise you to test the panty at home when you first use it, to find out how many hours your panty will remain 100% absorbent. The more absorbent the panty, the longer you’ll be able to wear it, on average between 6 h and 12 h.

Between 1 and 3 times a day. If your flow is heavy, you’ll need to change more often. To reduce the frequency of changes, it’s best to opt for our high-absorption pants (equivalent to 6 to 8 tampons), which offer up to 12 hours of protection.

Yes. It’s best to opt for our high-absorption panties (equivalent to 6 to 8 tampons). Tip: Combine menstrual panties with a washable pad. Once the washable towel is full, simply remove it. Menstrual panties will take over from there.

Yes. Unlike disposable pads and tampons made with chemicals, Ora Protections menstrual pants do not disturb vaginal flora. What’s more, their absorbent technology prevents moisture and thus protects against harmful yeast and bacterial infections, as well as itching.

The golden rule is to choose panties that reflect your daily activities. To choose the model that suits you best, analyze your lifestyle. Do you move around a lot? Choose a model with good support. Do you have sensitive skin? Choose natural fabrics.

The most important question, of course, concerns the abundance of your flow. Each model has a different absorption capacity. If you have a heavy flow, opt for high-absorption panties (up to 8 pads). Knowing your cycle is essential; we know that the first few days of your period are more abundant than the last, so you can choose several models and use them at the right moment. On average, customers buy between 3 and 6 panties, which they wear for the duration of their cycle.

Our washable pads have the same features as our menstrual pants. However, their inner layer, in contact with the vulva, is made of bamboo carbon. This material is renowned for its high absorbency and ecological properties.

Rinse with cold water until the water runs clear. Hand or machine wash at low temperature with a mild soap, such as our stain-removing soap in store. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. Air dry only. For best results and durability, use our wash bag available in the store.

Menstrual pants have an average lifespan of 300 washes, i.e. over 3 years. To ensure reliability, avoid using greasy soaps and/or soaps containing glycerine. Do not bleach, use a washing net and dry flat.
